Juventus Women enjoyed a successful trip to Florence for their penultimate away game of this Serie A Poule Scudetto, returning home with all three points after a 2-0 win at Viola Park.
Sofia Cantore and Barbara Bonansea got the goals for the Bianconere.
THE MATCH
Juventus started on top in Tuscany, with Sara Gama and Cristiana Girelli combining in the 10th minute but the forward was unable to find goal. The Bianconere kept pressing and Arianna Caruso threatened as the half-hour approached.
The only scare for our Bianconere came in the 38th minute as Karin Lundin fired over the crossbar from right in front of a near-empty goal.
That mistake was punished shortly after. Lisa Boattin ventured forward on the left and delivered a perfect cross that Sofia Cantore met with her head and nodded home.
Even after the restart, Juventus were the better side. Joe Echegini came close with her head on the end of a cross from Cantore, before Cecilia Salvai was called upon at the back to keep the hosts out.
It ended in style through substitute Barbara Bonansea, who scored a fine second for the Bianconere and clinched the points.
SOFIA CANTORE POST-MATCH COMMENTS
"Congratulations to Fiorentina for qualifying for the Champions League and to Roma for the Scudetto. Today we tried a different shape and we're happy with how it went, and I'm happy to have scored as well and the goal allowed us to take control of the game. Looking at the season, we've always gone out to win and, even if what happened on the pitch says otherwise, we've never felt inferior to anybody."
