Four goals and plenty of positive signs for Juventus Women in their first match in the USA. In the "Women's Cup," the Bianconere defeated Chilean team Colo-Colo 4-1, securing a spot in the tournament final, scheduled for the evening of August 13th (the night of the 14th in Italy), where they will face Brazil's Palmeiras, who won on penalties against the hosts, Louisville.
THE MATCH
Juve started strong, playing offensively and breaking the deadlock after just 10 minutes with a brilliant play by Bonansea, who dribbled past two opponents and delivered a perfect assist to Cantore, whose shot was powerful and precise.
The match remained balanced, with Colo Colo attacking in search of an equalizer, while the Bianconere responded. Girelli scored in the 24th minute, but the goal was disallowed.
The pace remained intense, with no major goal-scoring opportunities, but the match was entertaining. In the early stages of the second half (after 14 minutes), the Chileans equalized with a stunning long-range shot by Balmaceda.
Juve quickly regained control, taking only four minutes to respond as Girelli put the Bianconere back in the lead, capitalizing on a great through ball from Beccari.
The match then swung decisively in Juve's favor, and in the final minutes, they sealed the victory: first with Vangsgaard, who made it 3-1 in the 82nd minute, and then with Caruso, who put the final touch on the match in the 94th minute.
SOFIA CANTORE (MVP OF THE MATCH)
"It was a tough match today because Colo Colo is in playing their season, but we are working hard and very well; there's a lot of quality in the group. I'm really happy to have scored a goal, which came after a great team effort."
MASSIMILIANO CANZI
"In the first half, we spent too much time in their area without scoring, and that's not good. So I'm pleased with how we worked in the second half, scoring three times. We need to be more clinical because if you don't score, you risk not winning even if you play better. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the work we're doing. We have a really great team, but we're still far from where we want to be."
