27 April 2024
Following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Milan, Wojciech Szczesny has reached a truly significant milestone: one hundred games in which he has not conceded a goal while wearing the white and black jersey, in all competitions.
A CLARIFICATION
Actually, there are a few more matches in which he has kept a clean sheet: the Polish shot-stopper played three games with Juventus without conceding a goal, but did not stay on the field for the full 90 minutes, against Spezia on August 31, 2022 (43 minutes), Sporting on April 13, 2023 in the Europa League (44 minutes), and against Bologna on May 23, 2021 (67 minutes).
The data, therefore, refers to full matches without conceding a goal.
ALREADY A CENTURION
A few weeks ago, against Torino, Tek reached 100 clean sheets in Serie A, 78 with the Juventus jersey and 22 with the Roma jersey.
CHAMPION'S NUMBERS
Since his first season as the first-choice goalkeeper of Juventus (2018/19), Wojciech Szczesny is the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in Serie A: 68, at least four more than any other player in the same role.
Since his Serie A debut with Juventus in September 2017, Szczesny has saved eight out of the 31 penalties faced in the league: no one has done better in the same period (also eight for Andrea Consigli, who, however, faced 45 penalties).
The 34-year-old is the only goalkeeper to have provided an assist with Juventus in Serie A in the last 20 seasons (since 2004/05), for Alvaro Morata's goal in the 47th minute of the 4-1 away win against Bologna on May 23, 2021.
