Matchday twenty-one of this season's Serie A, played away in Sardinia against Cagliari ended 1-0 in favour of the Sardinian team.

MATCH REPORT

Under the pouring rain, Juventus approached the match with a proactive spirit, taking control of the game in the opening minutes with a very strong start. The Bianconeri controlled the game, controlling possession and always attempting to raise the tempo, but they found themselves facing a compact and well-organized Cagliari side who were focused on closing down spaces and defending with the utmost of discipline. The match—played on a pitch made difficult to play on by the weather—was intense, with many duels and a constant battle for every ball. Spalletti's team patiently built the play, moving the ball from one side to the other and seeking out interplay between the lines to break down the Rossoblu's defensive line. The biggest chance of the first half came in the 25th minute: Yildiz sparked the play, as he often did throughout the match, with a central run, then feeding David, who worked the ball well with his back to the goal and passed it to Miretti. The midfielder's shot was powerful and accurate, but Caprile excelled with a superb save, the beginnings of a very strong performance by the Cagliari keeper. The first half in Sardinia thusly ended goalless.

The second half opened with Juventus threatening once again with Cambiaso picking up the ball outside the box and unleashing a powerful left-footed shot, but Caprile parried it out for a corner. Juventus' pressure mounted, primarily through Yildiz, who created a high-quality move in the 62nd minute. The Turkish attacking midfielder skipped past a couple of opponents on the left wing before entering the penalty area through another sea of Cagliari players, but his shot went just over the far post. The home side did then take the lead in the 65th minute through Mazzitelli following a set piece. Spalletti's team responded immediately. The Bianconeri pressed forward, continuously attacking, and came very close to equalizing a few minutes later. Bremer set up a chance from a dead-ball situation, with David rising to head the ball from a strong position but failed to direct it on target. In the 78th minute, Juventus' number 10 picked up the ball from distance and unleashed a powerful strike: the finish was fierce, but the Rossoblu goalkeeper was once again decisive in protecting his goal. Six minutes later, Yildiz once again took matters into his own hands, firing a powerful shot towards goal, but his strike was deflected and hit the post. Despite a significant final push, Juventus' efforts failed to bear fruit, with Cagliari winning the match 1-0.
