05 September 2025
The first few of our Bianconeri had international action to concern themselves with on Thursday, 4 September. Both Kenan Yildiz and Lois Openda enjoyed successes with Turkiye and Belgium, respectively.
Elsewhere, Teun Koopmeiners was not named in the Netherlands’ matchday squad - despite being called up for the camp - as they drew 1-1 with Poland.
Let’s take a look at how the rest all of Thursday’s actions went.
Turkiye win on the road
Kenan Yildiz and Turkiye got their World Cup qualification group off to the best possible start, winning 3-2 away to Georgia. Vincenzo Montella’s side had taken a 3-0 lead before the hosts looked to battle back.
Yildiz started the game and got 74 minutes under his belt, and was taken off just after his side had gone down to 10 players.
A big win for Belgium
Lois Openda also started for Belgium, who ran out comprehensive 6-0 winners away to Liechtenstein. Our newest Bianconero played 60 minutes before Rudi Garcia opted to change things and take him off, with the score then at 3-0.
The win leaves Belgium on seven points after three games, maintaining their unbeaten record in this qualification campaign.
