The Women's First Team are ready to take on Como Women in their second Serie A Women's Cup match of the 2026/27 season.

The Bianconere host Como Women in Biella on Saturday, August 29 at 18:00 CEST. Coach Isaac Guerrero spoke to the press ahead of the game.

A BUSY PERIOD

“Tomorrow’s match is a crucial one because we have very little time. However, we’re fortunate to have players who are very aware of what’s at stake. We often talk about the fact that during this month of competitions, specifically in September, we have two titles up for grabs: one is qualification for the League Phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, which, as I’ve said before, is a title in its own right for us, and the other is the Serie A Women’s Cup.

"The players are raring to go and are keen to prove themselves. Even though we’ve been forced to work with little time to recover, I’m sure their hunger to compete will help us offset this slight disadvantage. I’m also very pleased with the players’ physical condition. They started training on 6 July and, right from day one, we didn’t follow a traditional pre-season programme. We started pushing them at full pace straight away. Firstly because the fixture list demanded it, and secondly because we believe in this approach. That is, performing at our best right from the start rather than building up the workload for the season. This allows them to manage the workload and the demands of the fixture list, which are very high, effectively. Emotionally, they’re ready, and physically I can see they’re definitely on top form.”

THE COLLECTIVE DESIRE TO WIN

"This phase of experimentation and ongoing research will last until May, given our approach to working with the team. We aren’t preparing the players for a ‘set line-up’ that’s meant to last the whole season. It’s a systematic process that encompasses emotional, technical, tactical and physical aspects. Our job is to assess their fitness levels every week, support them and work with them on what needs improving.

"The situation changes from day to day. We’re very happy with the squad and the players at our disposal. Everyone can compete for a starting place. But above all, and this is something I often repeat because it’s the reality. Those who finish the match are just as crucial as those who start it. Every time a player comes on, she maintains or raises the standard set by those already on the pitch."

THE UPCOMING SERIE A WOMEN’S CUP MATCH

"I find it hard to believe the girls would take things lightly. I’ve known them for over 50 days and they’re extremely competitive. They want to win every single drill in training, which gives me great peace of mind and saves me work, because they motivate themselves. As for our opponents, we’re facing different scenarios. In the Champions League, we faced a team that sat deep and were very reactive. Now, against Como Women, we’ll be up against a different scenario, with more high pressing and intensity. Having already played them in pre-season, we know what to expect, and the girls are very keen to test themselves in such a setting.”
