30 July 2024
Michele Di Gregorio introduced himself to the press and fans of the Bianconeri today, Tuesday 30 July, at the regularly scheduled press conference at Allianz Stadium.
These are the words of the former Monza goalkeeper:
SENSATIONS
"The sensations I'm getting are the same as on the first day, everything is fantastic. Over the past few days, I've had the chance to get acquainted with the training facilities first hand. They are really wonderful. As for the guys, it is a cohesive, united group. It was easy to feel like part of the squad. The retreat in Germany was fundamentally about growing closer on and off the pitch. It was a pleasant experience. Our rapport between teammates is tremendous, we already knew each other a bit as opponents. I came here to give it my all. I feel pressure, but I will be putting 100 per cent of my abilities on the line.
CHOOSING THE BIANCONERI
"I chose Juve practically from the start, and I kept my word. I never thought about other teams. My main goal is, and will be, to give my all, to grow and to keep both Juventus and the national team as my focus. The path requires sacrifice, but I am in the right place to succeed.
MATURITY
"I made my journey from the bottom up. The last few years have been formative. It certainly helped that I played a lot, made mistakes and worked on them consistently. All of this led me here and I’m very satisfied.
THE TRADITION OF ITALIAN GOALKEEPERS
“History speaks for itself at Juventus, especially with regard to goalkeepers. That’s also why I feel proud to be bianconero. My personal ambition is to leave my mark, like the other great players have done in the past. Some say that physically, I remind them Angelo Peruzzi. Only time will tell if that’s true. The focus remains on training work and on my desire to be satisfied with my achievements in this jersey.
EXPECTATIONS OF COACH THIAGO MOTTA
"The coach doesn’t demanding anything strange. He wants us to be involved in developing our movement and to show personality. Football has changed, and us goalkeepers behave accordingly. The role of the goalkeeper in modern football has evolved to make us increasingly involved.
IDOL
"My idol has always been Gigi Buffon. His words of esteem have been absolutely delightful, although I haven’t had the chance to hear them first hand. He is the greatest goalkeeper in history.
THE JUMP FROM MONZA TO JUVE
"From a psychological point of view, managing expectations keeps the job fascinating. You always have to be ready. At Monza, the pressures were different. The progressive steps made me mentally stronger. This club has very high ambitions, I will try to live up to them when the time comes. The Juventus jersey carries a certain weight. Here, there is history, ambition and everyone always expects a lot. It's normal. These sensations are normal, but you have to push yourself to the maximum.”
