Juventus Women’s First Team will look to put their defeat to Bayern Munich in the Women’s Champions League behind them when tomorrow, 20 October, they will take on Inter Milan in the Derby D’Italia (with the game kicking off at 12:00pm (CEST) at the Arena Civica in Milan).
Here’s what coach Massimiliano Canzi had to say about both matches.
LESSONS LEARNED FROM CHAMPIONS LEAGUE CLASH
“The performance against Bayern was there: it's clear that to score against teams of this level you have to execute a perfect performance; we didn't do that, although we still played well. To improve even more we need to pay more attention when defending set pieces and also when picking the right final pass going forward. It must also be said that there was a bit of bad luck, such as hitting the post or [Amalie] Vangsgaard's shot going just wide. The good thing is that we showed we can play together as a unit: we reviewed the match together, analysing it in detail, and it was not a negative performance.
FULL FOCUS ON INTER MILAN
“When you lose, you really want to play another match quickly, you want revenge, to show that the defeat was a one off. Moreover, it's an important match, against one of the title challengers: this is a very open championship, with many contenders, at least three or four, and one of them is Inter.
THE DERBY D’ITALIA
“Inter have a strong squad, as do we, but they have the great advantage with regards to this match, of having prepared for it in a ‘typical’ week, without using up energy, especially mentally: experiences like Wednesday's are the beauty, but also a difficult aspect, of being lucky enough to take part in major competitions like the Champions League.
On Sunday we will have to show intensity on the pitch, which is a characteristic that is really becoming part of our DNA; we are aware that this will be one of the aspects that will always allow us to play our game, against anyone, and therefore also against Inter.”
