Brighton: We want to win as many games as possible

Abi Brighton has renewed her contract with the Juventus Women’s First Team until 30 June 2028, and she has shared her thoughts with the fans.

ABI'S GRATITUDE

“I am really grateful to the club for renewing my contract. My first contract was a sort of ‘start’ to see how this first step into Italian football would go. So, it's really exciting for me to know that I have extended my relationship with Juventus. I am extremely grateful for what this club has given me.”

AN INITIAL PERIOD OF ADJUSTMENT

“At first, the change was significant and sudden, so it took me a while to settle in. However, I think that in recent months I have stabilised much more, and obviously the people around me, from my teammates to the technical staff, have helped me a lot, and I would like to thank everyone for their great support.”

A DIFFERENT KIND OF FOOTBALL

"Obviously, in the first few months, I had to understand the differences between American and Italian football. I would say that the biggest changes I had to get used to were the speed of the game and the transitions, which are much faster. Then there's also the way they approach defence and the need to stay focused at all times, without letting up, during training and matches. More specifically, I think I've improved defensively. I don't think I paid as much attention to the small details at my previous club, but here they've taught me how to do things properly and explained that these are the aspects that make the difference. It took me a while to get my head around this, but now I think I understand it completely."

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL GOALS

"As far as team goals are concerned, honestly, we'll try to win as many games as possible. Personally, I'm very competitive, so my desire, like that of my teammates, is to win everything. As for my personal goals, I'd like to score some goals this year. I didn't score last season, but I've recently been playing in a more advanced position. I'd like to help the team achieve the goals we've set ourselves, while also scoring a few goals of my own."
