The Juventus Men's First Team secured a victory in their friendly match against Nice at the Juventus Training Center on Friday night. The Bianconeri won 2-0 thanks to goals from Douglas Luiz in the first half and Justin Oboavwoduo in the second half.
DOUGLAS LUIZ GETS JUVE GOING
Juventus started the game quickl and came close to taking the lead after just four minutes following a cross from Zeki Celik, as Fabio Miretti met the ball with a header but failed to hit the target.
The goal came in the 10th minute: Douglas Luiz aggressively won the ball back in the attacking third, found himself one-on-one with Yehvann Diouf and coolly slotted past him to make it 1–0. The Bianconeri continued to control the game without conceding any dangerous chances to Nice, in a match inevitably affected by the heat.
The visitors only made their presence felt with a long-range effort from Jonathan Clauss and a free-kick won by Junior Mandza on the edge of the box, but Michele Di Gregorio had a largely quiet first half.
LOTS OF CHANGES AND A OBOAVWODUO GOAL
Luciano Spalletti made several changes right at the start of the second half, bringing on Joao Mario, Teun Koopmeiners and Arman Durmisi, amongst others, and later also Carlo Pinsoglio, Juan Cabal, Arthur Melo and Vasilije Adzic.
It was Joao Mario who came close to scoring in the 52nd minute with a header from a through ball by Miretti. A few minutes earlier, Lloyd Kelly had also come close to scoring from a corner.
As the minutes ticked by, Nice tried to push forward. Pinsoglio was equal to Youssouf Ndayishimiye’s effort, whilst Clauss narrowly missed the target with a shot that flew just wide.
In the closing stages, following the final substitutions which saw Gil Puche, Adin Licina and Oboavwoduo come on, Juventus doubled their lead. In the 89th minute, Adzic played a perfect through ball that sent Oboavwoduo through on goal and the young striker kept his cool and sealed the victory.
It was another good test for the Bianconeri, who are now preparing to fly to Hong Kong. Next Wednesday, 5 August, they face Chelsea.
