The Juventus Women’s First team secured an important away win in the first leg of the Italian Cup semi-final, as they beat Fiorentina 2-0 at home. Chiara Beccari's goal early on and Ana Capeta's goal at the start of the second half decided the match.

It is an excellent result ahead of the return leg, which will be played in Biella. Here is Wednesday night’s match report.

THE MATCH REPORT

The Bianconere got off to a flying start in their away match against Fiorentina, with Capeta at the heart of the attack immediately taking centre stage and providing the assist that led to Juventus' opening goal after nine minutes. The Portuguese player passed to Beccari inside the box, who beat everyone to the ball just a few steps from the line and scored.

Coach Massimiliano Canzi's team, buoyed by their lead, continued to attack. In the 19th minute, Estela Carbonell had a huge chance when she broke free with an excellent run to the far post, catching the Viola defence by surprise and heading unchallenged, but she narrowly missed the target from close range. A few seconds later, Capeta tried to score with a backheel, missing the net by centimetres.

The Bianconere dominated the first half, but in the 36th minute, Fiorentina had a great opportunity to equalise, with Viola Calligaris managing to clear Emilie Woldvik's tap-in off the line after Carbonell's imperfect clearance from Madelen Janogy's low cross.

The teams went into the break with the score at 1-0.

The script remained unchanged in the second half, and Juventus managed to double their lead in less than seven minutes. Capeta made the most of Calligaris' through ball and slotted it past Cecilie Fiskerstrand at the near post.

The 2-0 lead allowed them to manage the game more calmly. Beccari came close to scoring her second goal of the game just before the hour mark, while Danielle De Jong blocked a Fiorentina attempt from a good position with her foot.

The best chance to reduce the deficit fell to Sofie Bredgaard. Hlin Eriksdottir got away from Martina Lenzini and set her up, but the Viola player's powerful shot was saved by De Jong's great reflexes.

Juventus managed to contain the home side's attacks in the final stages and take home an excellent result: a 2-0 away win, which is the ideal start ahead of the return leg in Biella.
