The Juventus Women’s First Team were held to a goalless draw away at Genoa on Serie A Women Matchday 17.
THE MATCH REPORT
Things were cagey to begin with as the hosts stood firm at the back, making life hard for the BIanconere to find a way through. The first attempt at knocking on the door saw Tatiana Pinto try to put Chiara Beccari through, but the Rossoblu backline wasn’t willing to open.
At the other end, Birta Georgsdottir was the biggest threat for the hosts and had the first real opening, but fired wide of Larissa Rusek’s goal when in space on the edge of the box. The Icelandic forward was again at the centre of things when she teed up Alma Hilaj shortly after, but the Albanian dragged her effort wide.
Beccari continued to probe and won a freekick at the edge of the box after driving at Genoa’s box. Estela Carbonell hit the wall with her effort from the resulting set-piece.
Carbonell went closer moments later, forcing Camilla Forcinella into an excellent stop with a shot from range that looked destined to find the top corner.
Beccari kept looking to make things happen in the Bianconere’s favour, and at the other end Valery Vigilucci and Georgsdottir each had efforts without forcing Rusek into too much work.
At the beginning of the second half, Genoa had two decent chances that caused Rusek to be alert, first through Vigilucci and then through Hilaj.
Half-time introduction Amalie Vangsgaard looked to pose problems for the Rossoblu, with the Bianconere trying to force things a little. But Forcinella was equal to whatever came her way.
Other second-half arrivals Eva Schatzer and Michela Cambiaghi were also involved in chances as the minutes ticked away, but again without any success.
Late on, Cambiaghi found Tatiana Pinto nicely, but the Portuguese couldn’t direct her effort on goal. In stoppage time, Vangsgaard sent a shot over the crossbar, and the game ended without the net being found.
